During a symposium hosted by the finance ministry of Japan, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva warned that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East could exert upward pressure on global inflation. She noted that a persistent 10% increase in oil prices throughout most of the year would likely result in a 40-basis-point rise in global inflation.
