US Judge Hears California Voter Suit
A US judge heard arguments on a Justice Department request to block California from counting ballots from voters alleged to be noncitizens. California argued the move risks disenfranchising eligible voters.

A federal judge in Los Angeles heard arguments on Tuesday from the Justice Department seeking to block California from counting mail ballots from more than 20,000 registered voters. The administration alleges these individuals are likely noncitizens ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. The lawsuit marks a rare intervention by the federal government in state-administered voting processes. The United States Constitution assigns election administration primarily to individual states.
