US officials are working with Mapp Biopharmaceutical on an experimental Ebola drug. The effort follows a deadly outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain in Africa.

The United States is partnering with Mapp Biopharmaceutical to deploy an experimental monoclonal antibody treatment targeting a new Ebola outbreak. The Bundibugyo strain has caused 139 suspected deaths and 600 suspected cases across the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. With no approved vaccines or treatments for this specific strain, the partnership represents the primary medical intervention available.
