UK Regulator Proposes New Heathrow Passenger Fee Caps
The UK Civil Aviation Authority proposed capping Heathrow passenger fees between 27.20 and 30.50 pounds. The plan aims to balance fair pricing with investment.
The aviation regulator in the United Kingdom has proposed a cap on passenger charges at Heathrow Airport for the 2027-2031 regulatory period. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) suggested on Tuesday that fees should be limited to between £27.20 and £30.50 per passenger. This initial proposal is intended to maintain fair pricing for travelers while supporting necessary infrastructure investments at Europe’s busiest aviation hub.
Heathrow, which expects to handle approximately 85 million passengers this year, is currently moving forward with a £33 billion ($43.56 billion) expansion plan. This includes the construction of a new runway, a project the government continues to support as a driver for national economic growth despite its controversial nature.
