Swiss National Bank reports 34 billion dollar 2025 profit
The Swiss National Bank confirmed a 2025 profit of 26.1 billion francs on Monday. Gains were driven by rising gold prices amid global trade uncertainty.
The central bank of Switzerland has officially confirmed its financial performance for the past fiscal year, reporting a substantial surplus. The Swiss National Bank (SNB) announced on Monday that it achieved an annual profit of 26.1 billion Swiss francs, or approximately $34 billion, for 2025. This confirmation follows provisional figures released by the bank earlier this year. The bank's financial success was primarily attributed to a sharp rise in gold prices. Throughout 2025, global trade uncertainty prompted investors to seek security in safe-haven assets, significantly boosting the value of the SNB's holdings. This trend in the precious metals market also influenced major sector participants such as Barrick Gold Corporation. In its January outlook, the SNB had projected a profit of roughly 26 billion francs. The final audited results validated these expectations, reflecting a period of high volatility that benefited the central bank's gold-heavy portfolio. According to the report, the conversion rate stood at 0.7688 Swiss francs per dollar.
