Steel Dynamics Beats Revenue Estimates as Profit Rises
Steel Dynamics posted a first-quarter profit of $2.78 per share today as revenue hit $5.20 billion. Higher prices and robust energy demand fueled the gains.
STEEL DYNAMICS INC reported a significant increase in its first-quarter profit on Monday, bolstered by elevated steel prices and resilient demand across key industrial sectors. The company's financial performance exceeded analyst expectations, leading to a 1.2% rise in share prices during aftermarket trading. This growth comes amid a period of restricted supply caused by domestic mill outages and a notable decline in foreign imports.
Steel imports into the United States have remained at multi-year lows, influenced by ongoing tariffs and domestic trade actions. Simultaneously, the trend of manufacturing onshoring and the regionalization of supply chains have provided a stable foundation for consumption. Demand during the quarter was primarily led by the energy sector, followed by contributions from non-residential construction, automotive manufacturing, and various other industrial markets.
