Spire sale talks continue as Bridgepoint and Triton exit
Spire Healthcare says talks with Bridgepoint and Triton ended but other discussions continue. The UK hospital group is still exploring a potential sale.
Spire Healthcare has confirmed that formal buyout discussions with private equity firms Bridgepoint Group plc and Triton have ended. Despite the withdrawal of these two major parties, the private hospital operator stated on Friday that it remains in active discussions with other interested groups regarding a potential sale. The company cautioned that there can be no certainty an offer will materialize or what the specific terms might entail.
The announcement follows a period of speculation regarding a takeover, with reports from Sky News suggesting that Bridgepoint Group plc had been drawing up proposals valued at more than 1 billion pounds. However, the firm indicated it could not reach a consensus on a deal structure suitable for all stakeholders at this time. Triton did not specify any reasons for its decision to exit the process.
