South Korea shares rallied 1.95% on Thursday as record chip exports offset early losses, pushing the benchmark index to 6,971.35. The KOSPI snapped three consecutive sessions of decline to post its biggest daily percentage rise since September 18. The rebound followed domestic trade data that showed semiconductor shipments more than tripled amid global AI spending.
