Russian Tanker Arrives in Cuba with 700,000 Barrels of Oil
A Russian tanker carrying 700,000 barrels of crude arrived in Cuba on Tuesday. The U.S. allowed the cargo to proceed to help ease the island's energy crisis.
A Russian-flagged tanker carrying approximately 700,000 barrels of crude oil docked at the Matanzas terminal in Cuba on Tuesday, marking a significant shift in the island's fuel supply landscape. This delivery is the first major shipment since the United States administration moved to sever the country's fuel lines. The vessel, identified as the Anatoly Kolodkin, entered Cuban waters near the Guantanamo Bay naval base despite being under sanctions. Officials in Washington stated that the ship was permitted to discharge its cargo for humanitarian reasons.
The arrival of the Aframax tanker was met with relief by local residents who have endured months of energy instability. In Matanzas, the sight of the 250-meter vessel was a rare moment of optimism amid a deepening crisis.
