Russia to Launch Starlink Rival Satellite Service in 2027
Bureau 1440 plans to start commercial operations of its satellite broadband network in 2027 following upcoming tests. The company aims to deploy 900 low-orbit satellites over several years to provide a domestic alternative to the SpaceX system.
Iks Holding CEO Alexei Shelobkov announced the launch of a domestic satellite broadband service in Russia next year to compete with Starlink. The system will begin commercial operations in 2027 following technical testing scheduled for the coming weeks. The project aims to establish a sovereign alternative to the SpaceX network, which is currently banned in Russia with equipment use subject to fines.
### Scaling the Rassvet Network Bureau 1440, a subsidiary of Iks Holding, is accelerating the low-orbit satellite program. Shelobkov stated that Bureau 1440 has already launched 16 low-orbit Rassvet satellites as part of an initial deployment phase.
