Three major semiconductor companies in Japan are reportedly entering discussions to consolidate their power chip operations. According to a report from the Nikkei newspaper, ROHM Co., Ltd., Toshiba, and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation are exploring an integration that would create a global leader in the sector.
The proposed merger would result in the formation of the world's second-largest power chip group, trailing only the industry leader, Infineon Technologies AG. The move is viewed as a strategic effort to enhance cost competitiveness and solidify market share as the global demand for power semiconductors continues to rise.
