The Niger State government has announced an agreement with the Islamic Development Bank to develop a solar electrification project valued at $163 million. This initiative includes the construction of a 100-megawatt solar power facility in north-central Nigeria NGNG, intended to improve the local power supply. The project is planned to occupy approximately 200 hectares of land and will provide electricity to several communities across Niger State.
Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago umaru mohammed bagostated that the project will complement existing agricultural investments by improving access to reliable power for food production and agro-processing. Umaru Mohammed Bagofurther explained that the facility will help boost industrial activity and revenue generation within the state. The project is designed to leverage the abundant sunlight in the region to support clean energy generation.
