Japanese economy records slight expansion in fourth quarter but misses analyst expectations

Japan’s economy expanded by an annualized 0.2 percent in the fourth quarter. The figure missed market forecasts for a much stronger 1.6 percent increase.

Japan JPJP reported an annualized economic growth rate of 0.2 percent for the October–December quarter, according to official data released by the Japanese government. This figure for Japan's national accounts (GDP) was notably lower than the median market forecast, which had predicted a 1.6 percent annualized rise.
