Italy targets 2026 deficit below EU ceiling
Italy plans to bring its budget deficit below the European Union three percent ceiling this year. The government is finalizing a new budget plan ahead of next month.

Italy plans to bring its budget deficit below 3% of GDP this year, targeting 2.9% to exit an excessive deficit procedure. The target follows a 3.1% deficit confirmed for 2025 by national statistics bureau ISTAT.
