India Struggles to Link 60 GW of Solar Power in Rajasthan
India faces delays connecting 60 gigawatts of solar projects in Rajasthan due to grid gaps. This infrastructure hurdle impacts the 2030 renewable energy targets.
India is grappling with a significant infrastructure bottleneck as its leading solar-producing state, Rajasthan, faces a massive backlog of renewable energy projects. Approximately 60 gigawatts (GW) of clean energy capacity are currently stalled due to a lack of available transmission links, according to recent regulatory filings.
This development poses a critical challenge to the national goal of nearly doubling non-fossil fuel power generation to 500 GW by 2030. The primary difficulty lies in the logistical task of transporting electricity from renewable-rich regions like Rajasthan to other states across the country.
