EU Proposes Simpler Tenders and Buy European Rules
The European Commission has proposed new public tender rules to slash paperwork and create a unified platform. The measures allow authorities to favor bids with high European content to counter foreign dependence.

The European Commission proposed new rules on Wednesday morning to simplify public tenders and introduce Buy European criteria, targeting €2.5 trillion in public contracts. The overhaul seeks to slash paperwork across the bloc's 27 jurisdictions and counter intense international competition. Public buying accounts for 15% of the European Union's gross domestic product, serving as a critical lever against supply chain vulnerabilities.
