Germany DEDE and France FRFR have jointly urged the European Commission to bring forward an ambitious package to simplify EU financial services rules, aiming to make them easier to navigate and less burdensome for firms. In a letter dated Friday and announced on 17 February 2026, German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil and French Finance Minister Roland Lescure called on Financial Services Commissioner Maria Luis Albuquerque to accelerate efforts to strengthen the single market and improve the global competitiveness of European financial institutions.
