The European Union maintains a firm stance against pursuing new energy agreements with Russia, even as energy prices continue to fluctuate. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas emphasized on Tuesday that there is no internal momentum for such deals, dismissing suggestions that negotiations might be happening privately.

Speaking in an interview, Kallas noted that her direct involvement in high-level discussions confirms a lack of interest in re-engaging with Moscow on energy matters. She stressed that the bloc must first reach a clear internal consensus before any potential dialogue with Russia could be considered.

\"I've been behind those closed doors and I don't see this appetite.\"

Kallas argued that a return to business as usual would likely embolden Moscow and lead to further instability, noting that the international community has seen such patterns before. She warned that returning to previous economic patterns would carry significant security risks for the continent.

\"Because if we just go back to business as usual, we will have more of this, more wars.\"

The foreign policy chief stressed the importance of unity and vigilance, suggesting that any concessions would only encourage further aggression. She stated that the bloc must remain vigilant to ensure that the union does not inadvertently grant the Kremlin its strategic objectives.
