Russia denies plans to undermine US oil interests in CPC
Peskov said Russia will not undermine U.S. interests in the CPC oil group. He rejected expert calls to ban Kazakh supplies in response to Western sanctions.
The government of Russia has clarified that it is not attempting to damage the commercial interests of the United States within the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov addressed recent suggestions from domestic experts who proposed halting oil shipments from Kazakhstan through the CPC network as a retaliatory measure against Western sanctions.
The CPC serves as a critical export route, transporting crude from Central Asia to a terminal on the Black Sea. Major American energy firms, including Chevron Corporation and ExxonMobil, hold significant stakes in the consortium alongside regional partners.
