Anders Opedal, the Chief Executive Officer of Norway's energy major EQUINOR ASA, has indicated that the European Union is unlikely to turn back to Russia for gas imports. Despite ongoing supply disruptions in the Middle East, the political and ethical implications of the war in Ukraine make such a reversal highly improbable. Speaking at the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston, Opedal noted that the EU's partnership with Kyiv remains a primary factor in its energy diversification strategy.
"When I talk to ministers in several countries, bringing Russian gas back in the middle of the war with Ukraine would be very, very difficult."
