Voters Strongly Back Detroit Zoo Tax Renewal
Early election results show strong voter support across three counties to renew a ten-year tax supporting the Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Center. The ten-cent millage provides vital operating revenue for animal care.

Voters across three counties backed a 10-year, 0.10 millage renewal for the Detroit Zoo with margins above 70% overnight following the November 3 election. The property tax rate remains unchanged from measures approved by voters in 2008 and 2016. The funding stream accounts for one-third of the nonprofit operator's total operating revenue.
