Brevard School Tax Renewals Lead Early Polls

Early results from Brevard County show strong voter support for renewing both a local property tax surcharge and a half-cent sales surtax. The measures aim to fund teacher pay raises and critical school facility upgrades.

On Monday, Aug. 10 Brevard Public Schools Superintendent Mark Rendell and School Board Chair Matt Susin were at the Manatee Bus Depot before dawn to greet School bus drivers on the fist day of school before drivers headed out on their routes.

Voters in United States county Brevard are backing two local school tax renewals, with early tallies showing strong support for both a property tax surcharge and a sales surtax. With 50 out of 166 precincts reporting, the measures are leading by wide margins during Tuesday evening voting.
