EU has five months of jet fuel reserves and production
The Dutch government says EU jet fuel supplies can last five months using reserves. Officials activated a crisis plan to monitor markets amid rising prices.
The government of the Netherlands has estimated that the European Union maintains sufficient kerosene supplies and production capacity to sustain the regional economy for approximately five months. This assessment comes amid warnings from major airlines regarding potential jet fuel shortages following the outbreak of war in Iran.
According to a formal letter submitted to parliament, domestic kerosene supply currently stands at 78% of normal levels as a significant portion of imports has been halted. The Dutch government highlighted that the Port of Rotterdam, which hosts several of the largest refineries in Europe, remains a critical hub for regional energy security.
