Corpus Christi Voters Pass Proposition B

Corpus Christi voters passed Proposition B to end a program exempting large industries from drought surcharges. The amendment mandates fair fees during water shortages.

Armon Alex, the Fair Water Amendment director, speaks during a press conference calling for support of Proposition B outside Corpus Christi City Hall on Oct. 19, 2026, the first day of early voting.

Voters in Corpus Christi passed Proposition B by 68.49% to end a program that exempts large industries from drought surcharges. The citizen-led ballot measure amends the City Charter to mandate surcharge rates for industrial water users during declared droughts. The change impacts $6 million in annual fee revenue previously used to fund new water supply projects in United States operations.
