China consumer prices rise 0.2 percent in January as producer deflation eases

China's consumer price index rose 0.2 percent in January while producer price deflation softened to 1.4 percent. The figures missed some analyst expectations.

The National Bureau of Statistics reported on Wednesday that the January consumer price index (CPI) in China CNCN rose 0.2% year-on-year while the producer price index (PPI) fell 1.4% year-on-year. This reading for the CPI cooled from the 0.8% growth recorded in December to 0.2% in January, missing Reuters poll expectations.
