Bulgaria Halts Weapons Shipments to Ukraine
Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov announced that Bulgaria will no longer provide arms to Ukraine, marking a shift from previous military support. The new government is calling for a negotiated peace to end the conflict, though a 10-year security agreement remains in place.
Bulgaria halted military equipment deliveries to Ukraine as the new government shifts toward a negotiated settlement with Russia. The decision reverses a 2024 policy that saw Sofia export anti-tank missiles, armored vehicles, and howitzers to Kyiv. This shift complicates a 10-year bilateral security agreement and impacts regional stability along the strategic Black Sea coast.
Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov announced the halt during a ministry briefing on Tuesday afternoon. Stoyanov stated that Bulgaria does not plan to provide further weapons to the Ukrainian army.
