Maricopa County voters on Tuesday evening decided whether to extend a 0.2% retail sales tax to fund jail facilities through 2047. The special sales tax provides millions of dollars in annual revenue for adult and juvenile detention centers across the United States region. Approval keeps the levy active past its scheduled March 2027 expiration, maintaining funding for jail operations and inmate health services.
