Bertelsmann 2025 profit dips on RTL advertising weakness
Bertelsmann reported 2025 operating profit of 3.02 billion euros. The slight decline follows weak advertising revenue at its RTL broadcasting subsidiary.
The media conglomerate Bertelsmann reported a slight decline in its 2025 operating profit, primarily due to performance challenges at its broadcasting subsidiary, RTL Group S.A.. The group, based in Germany, posted adjusted operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) of 3.02 billion euros ($3.49 billion) for the fiscal year, compared to 3.11 billion euros in 2024. The decline was largely driven by a weak advertising market, which saw RTL Group S.A. report an 8% drop in its own adjusted operating profit earlier this month. The subsidiary remains a critical component of the parent company, accounting for approximately one-third of total revenue in 2024. The financial results were compiled with reporting from Berlin and Gdansk, Poland.
