SICHUAN YAHUA INDUSTRIAL-A has secured a six-month export quota for lithium concentrates from Zimbabwe, two months after the country suspended exports of the critical battery material. The company stated that the quota would be sufficient to maintain normal production at its Kamativi Mine. The announcement was made via an online investor platform affiliated with the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Yahua is going through the procedure to resume exports.

The government of Zimbabwe recently introduced the quota system as a means to regulate the industry following allegations of malpractice and mineral leakage. Under the new guidelines, producers are required to commit to higher levels of local processing to ensure more economic value remains within the country.

In addition to Yahua, other major Chinese mining entities have received export permissions. CHENGXIN LITHIUM GROUP CO-A and SINOMINE RESOURCE GROUP CO-A, both of which operate mining facilities in the region, were also granted quotas. These developments are vital for the supply chain to China, which received 1.13 million tons of spodumene concentrate from Zimbabwe in 2025. This volume accounted for roughly 15% of the total lithium concentrate imports into the Chinese market last year.

While several firms have secured their quotas, others are still waiting for official communication. ZHEJIANG HUAYOU COBALT CO -A, a major player in the Zimbabwean lithium sector, has reportedly not yet received notice from the government regarding its export status.
