Volkswagen global deliveries drop 4 percent in first quarter
The German carmaker reported a 4 percent decline in global deliveries during the first three months of 2026. Weak demand in China and North America drove the dip.
The automotive giant Volkswagen has reported a contraction in its global delivery figures for the first quarter of 2026. The Germany-based manufacturer saw a 4% year-on-year decline in total vehicle handovers during the first three months of the year, primarily attributed to softening demand in key international markets. Performance in China was particularly impacted, with deliveries plummeting by 15% compared to the same period last year. This downturn in the world's largest car market remains a significant challenge for the group as it navigates shifting consumer preferences and local competition. The struggle extended to North America, including the United States, where deliveries dropped by 13%. These regional losses outweighed growth or stability in other sectors, leading to the overall quarterly dip. The company disclosed these figures in an official statement released on Monday, highlighting the ongoing pressure on its global sales strategy at the start of the fiscal year.
