US Treasury Secretary Sees Productive Future for China Relations

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says the US seeks a fair rivalry with China rather than decoupling. He plans to meet Chinese officials before an April visit.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced on Tuesday during the BTG Pactual CEO Conference in Brazil BRBR that he will meet with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in the coming weeks. Speaking in Sao Paolo, Bessent stated that the relationship between the United States USUS and China CNCN can be productive even as it remains a rivalry. The scheduled meeting is a key step ahead of a planned visit to Beijing by U.S. President Donald Trump in April.
