The United States trade deficit narrowed 0.7% to $105.0 billion in September as imports rose 1.2% to a record $426.6 billion. The monthly gap remained near record highs driven by a corporate artificial intelligence spending surge. That shortfall missed the $108.0 billion deficit forecast by economists polled by Reuters.
