A federal appeals court in the United States overturned most of a labor board ruling against STARBUCKS CORP on Friday afternoon, rejecting claims that the coffee chain illegally threatened unionizing workers.
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-0 that management statements regarding hiring pauses and reduced store hours did not violate federal labor law. The decision follows a separate ruling in Manhattan that reversed another labor board penalty against the company.
