Uganda coffee export revenue remains flat in January
Uganda earned $161 million from coffee shipments in January, marking a 1.5 percent increase from last year. Lower global prices offset higher export volumes.
The value of Uganda's Coffee exports remained largely unchanged in January as lower global prices offset a slight increase in shipment volumes. According to a report from the ministry of agriculture released on Monday, the nation earned $161 million from shipments during the month, representing a 1.5% rise compared to the same period last year.
As Africa's largest exporter of the commodity, the sector serves as a critical source of foreign exchange for the East African nation. In terms of volume, the country exported 569,454 60-kilogram bags in January, which is a 2% increase over the volumes recorded in January of the previous year.
