Turkey lifted customs restrictions on Armenia on Wednesday to allow direct trade links. The move marks a step toward normalizing ties after over thirty years.
Turkey lifted customs restrictions on Armenia on Wednesday, enabling direct trade links for the first time in over 30 years. The move reverses a 1993 blockade, marking the first formal normalization between the neighbors after decades of severed ties. Reopening this corridor could unlock economic connectivity in the South Caucasus, a region critical for global energy transit.
### New Regulations Enable Direct Origin Labeling The Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that new regulations allow goods to list Armenia or Turkey as their final destination or country of origin. Previously, trade required routing through third countries without direct documentation. This change applies to goods moving between the two nations via intermediate transit points.
