Azerbaijan Reopens Iranian Border to Cargo Traffic
Azerbaijan reopened its border with Iran for cargo on Monday. The move follows a drone incident in Nakhchivan and a phone call between the two presidents.
Azerbaijan has officially reopened its border crossings with Iran for all cargo traffic, according to reports from the Russian state-run news agency TASS on Monday. The move restores a critical logistics corridor that serves as one of the shortest land routes connecting the Islamic Republic to its ally, Russia.
The border crossings were shuttered last week following a security incident in the Nakhchivan exclave. Officials in Baku had previously characterized the event as a drone attack, leading to a temporary suspension of transit activities while investigations were conducted. The closure had threatened to disrupt regional trade and transport links between the neighboring nations.
