Telkom annual earnings jump 30 percent on data demand
Telkom reported a 30.1% rise in annual headline earnings driven by mobile and fibre data growth. The group also increased its dividend payout ratio range.
TELKOM SA SOC LTD reported a 30.1% jump in full-year headline earnings as surging data demand boosted mobile and fiber revenue. The South Africa telecommunications group also raised its dividend payout ratio to 40%–60% of free cash flow. Structural cost improvements drove EBITDA margin expansion to 28.1%.
### Data Demand Drives Revenue Growth Headline earnings per share rose to 708.5 cents ($0.43) for the year ending March 31, up from 544.5 cents the previous year. Group revenue increased 1.4% to 44.5 billion rand, supported by a 10.3% jump in pre-paid service revenue. Mobile data revenue grew 10.5%, while fiber-related data revenue climbed 6.3%.
