Teachers Union Sweeps Jefferson County Board Races
Candidates endorsed by the local teachers union won all five seats in the Jefferson County Board of Education elections following a restructuring under state legislation. Incumbents and new contenders secured victories across the newly mapped districts.
Candidates backed by the teachers union swept all five seats in the Jefferson County Board of Education races on November 3, per unofficial results from the Jefferson County Clerk's Office. The sweep comes after a new state law in the United States reshaped the board and reduced its elected members by two. The outcome gives the board an entirely new political alignment following a year of budget cuts and leadership turmoil in public schools.
