Ichthys LNG Strike Delays Tanker Loading in Australia
A limited strike by workers at the Inpex-operated Ichthys LNG facility has delayed a Taiwan-bound tanker after bargaining over pay and conditions failed. The disruption at the plant, which accounts for 10% of Australian output, comes amid heightened global supply risks and rising Asian spot prices.
INPEX CORP delayed a Taiwan-bound LNG tanker at its Ichthys plant in Australia after a limited workers' strike disrupted terminal operations on Tuesday. The facility accounts for approximately 10% of LNG output in Australia, the second-largest producer of the fuel. The delay follows supply disruptions caused by the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran which damaged facilities in Qatar.
### Wage Dispute Triggers Export Delays The Pacific Breeze LNG tanker faced a 24-hour delay after a two-hour work stoppage late Tuesday evening. Shipping data from Kpler showed the vessel was expected to load on May 31 and arrive at the Yung An port in Taiwan on June 9. The cargo is destined for CPC Corporation Taiwan, which is both the cargo buyer and a joint venture partner in the Ichthys facility.
