SBI to Raise 100 Billion Rupees via Infrastructure Bonds
SBI plans to issue seven or ten-year bonds this month to fund long-term projects. This marks the bank's first infrastructure bond sale since November 2024.
The State Bank of India is preparing to return to the infrastructure bond market this March, marking its first such issuance in approximately 16 months. According to banking sources, the nation's largest lender aims to raise as much as 100 billion rupees, which is roughly equivalent to $1.09 billion based on the current Indian Rupee / US Dollar exchange rate. The proposed issuance in India is expected to feature tenors of either seven or ten years. These specialized instruments are designed to provide long-term funding for development projects across the country. When asked to confirm the upcoming bond sale, the bank provided a brief statement regarding its communication strategy.
