Activist investor Starboard Value has reportedly built a significant stake in Lamb Weston Holdings, Inc., positioning itself as one of the largest shareholders in the major potato product manufacturer. According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, the activist firm is urging the company to accelerate operational improvements and implement more aggressive cost-cutting measures to drive shareholder value.
The investment comes at a time when Starboard Value views the company as undervalued. Lamb Weston Holdings, Inc., which currently carries a market capitalization of approximately $6.34 billion, serves as a primary supplier of french fries and appetizers for global fast-food giants such as McDonald's Corporation and Yum! Brands, Inc..
