Spain experienced a notable improvement in its trade balance during the first two months of 2026, with the national trade deficit narrowing by 24% compared to the same period a year earlier. Data released by the Economy Ministry on Tuesday indicated that the deficit reached 7.31 billion euros, which is equivalent to approximately $8.60 billion based on current exchange rates.
The contraction in the trade gap occurred as both inbound and outbound trade volumes saw declines. Total imports between January and February fell by 4.8%, amounting to 67.95 billion euros. Meanwhile, exports saw a smaller decrease of 1.8%, totaling 60.65 billion euros. These figures highlight the shifting economic landscape for the EUR/USD pair as market participants evaluate the Eurozone's trade performance.
