South Korea Moves Toward $350 Billion in U.S. Investments
South Korean lawmakers are finalizing a bill for $350 billion in U.S. investments. The move follows pressure to implement an existing bilateral trade deal.
A parliamentary committee in South Korea is expected to finalize the wording of a special investment bill on Monday, clearing the way for a plenary vote later this week. The legislation is intended to facilitate $350 billion in investments into the United States as part of a bilateral trade agreement between the two nations.
The bill is scheduled for a full National Assembly vote on March 12. This move comes as the government responds to pressure from Washington regarding perceived delays in implementing the trade deal. The Special Act on Investment in the U.S. will establish a dedicated investment vehicle and a risk management committee to oversee the implementation of the agreement reached last year.
