The diplomatic mission focuses on maintaining the flow of Brent Crude Oil and naphtha, which are essential for the nation's industrial and medical sectors. The government is currently coordinating with international partners to ensure the safety of 26 domestic vessels waiting within the volatile Strait of Hormuz region.

South Korea urgently needed to diversify supply lines as the country relied on the Hormuz route for about 61% of its crude oil and 54% of its naphtha imports, he told a press briefing at the presidential Blue House.

While the situation remains tense, some relief has arrived following a 24-million-barrel supply agreement with the United Arab Emirates. Shipments from this deal have already begun reaching domestic ports, providing a temporary buffer against the shipping bottlenecks.

In response to the tightening supply, the administration is urging the public and the private sector to implement rigorous energy-saving measures. These efforts are seen as critical to maintaining stability while the government works to diversify its energy procurement strategy and secure alternative routes.
