South Korea resumes Russian naphtha imports
The Industry Ministry confirmed the arrival of 27,000 tons of Russian naphtha on Monday. Officials are seeking more supplies to address plastic resin shortages.
The government of South Korea has confirmed the arrival of 27,000 tons of naphtha from Russia, marking the first such shipment since the outbreak of the conflict in Iran. The Ministry of Industry stated that the cargo arrived on Monday, though officials declined to specify the destination port or the specific companies involved in the transaction.
Naphtha serves as a critical feedstock for the domestic petrochemical sector, particularly for the production of plastics and synthetic resins. Major industry players, such as S-Oil Corporation, rely on steady supplies of refined oil products to maintain operations. The government is currently working with the foreign ministry to secure additional volumes of Russian naphtha to mitigate supply chain disruptions caused by regional instability.
