South Korea March Inflation Trails Market Forecasts
South Korea's consumer price index rose 2.2 percent in March from a year earlier. This increase was lower than the 2.4 percent median forecast by economists.
Consumer price growth in South Korea accelerated at a slower pace than anticipated during March, according to official data released on Thursday. The consumer price index (CPI) rose by 2.2% compared to the same month last year, representing a slight increase from the 2.0% growth recorded in February. However, this figure remained below the 2.4% median increase projected by economists in a Reuters poll.
On a monthly basis, the index climbed 0.3% in March, matching the pace seen in February. This result was also softer than the 0.6% monthly rise that market analysts had expected. The figures were published by the Ministry of Data and Statistics, highlighting a moderate inflationary trend despite external pressures.
