Consumer inflation in South Korea accelerated in March, though the pace was slower than economists had anticipated despite the ongoing conflict in Iran driving up global energy costs. Data released on Thursday by the Ministry of Data and Statistics showed the consumer price index (CPI) rose 2.2% from a year earlier, a slight increase from the 2.0% recorded in February but below the 2.4% median forecast in a Reuters poll.
