South Korea Delays Digital Asset Taxes to 2029

South Korea has postponed its planned digital asset taxes by two years to 2029. The delay aims to align with US information exchanges and protect the domestic market.

South Korea will delay taxes on digital assets until 2029 to align with information exchanges with the U.S., the finance ministry said Thursday morning. The postponement gives lawmakers two additional years to build out regulatory frameworks for virtual assets. The delay prevents local platforms from facing competitive disadvantages against global markets, according to the ministry.
