Germany has finalized an agreement to provide South Africa with a new 200 million euro ($234 million) concessional climate loan, aimed at strengthening the nation's energy infrastructure and expanding its renewable energy capacity. The deal was announced by South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola following a series of diplomatic talks with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in Berlin. In addition to the climate loan, the two nations have committed to deepening their strategic cooperation regarding critical minerals, which are essential for global technological and energy transitions.
