SBI Funds Management Files for Initial Public Offering
SBI Funds Management filed for an initial public offering on Thursday. Existing investors State Bank of India and Amundi will sell 203.7 million shares.
India's largest asset manager, SBI Funds Management, has officially filed for an initial public offering (IPO), according to a draft prospectus submitted on Thursday. The move marks a significant milestone for the domestic mutual fund industry as the firm prepares to go public through a secondary share sale. The offering will consist entirely of an offer for sale (OFS) by the company's existing shareholders. AMUNDI SA and the State Bank of India are set to offload a combined total of 203.7 million shares. Under this structure, SBI Funds Management will not issue any new shares, meaning the proceeds from the IPO will go directly to the selling shareholders rather than the company itself. The filing comes amid a period of heightened activity in the Indian capital markets. As one of the most prominent players in the financial services sector, the listing of SBI Funds Management is expected to draw significant interest from both institutional and retail investors.
